Hevert investing in the future and in Germany as a production location with a new packaging line for tablets

Shareholders, management and Executive Committee of Hevert-Arzneimittel have approved investment in the tablet packaging line at the production location in Nussbaum, Rhineland-Palatinate. This commitment to the multi-million euro investment project will ensure both security of supply and the further development of the preparations manufactured in-house for the coming years.

With the decision to expand the packaging line for its solid medicinal products and micronutrient preparations (solids), the independent, family-run company Hevert-Arzneimittel has set the course for comprehensive investment in its production location in Nussbaum, Rhineland-Palatinate, for the coming years.

By overhauling its production line, the manufacturer of homeopathic medicinal products, herbal medicines and micronutrient preparations is not only ensuring security of supply and operational reliability, it is also enabling the packaging formats to be adjusted flexibly in line with current demand. Besides the further development of existing and new preparations, additional reasons for the project included the expansion of production capacities and the creation of a future-oriented infrastructure for tablet packaging. On one hand, the expansion of capacities is intended help to boost sales. On the other hand, the desire for more innovative and more agile production processes was decisive for the approval.

“The new solids packaging line offers many advantages, particularly for the further development of our production location in Nussbaum,” explains Manfred Wiedemer, Head of Production at Hevert. “The expansion will also enable us to explore future options such as the ability to implement the production of new formats ourselves, or to protect our packaging from counterfeiting and tampering through the allocation of serial numbers. This will allow us to produce in a more agile and more innovative manner, which in turn will give us a competitive advantage.”

At the naturopathy and vitamin specialist Hevert, up to one and a half million packaged preparations from its own product portfolio roll off the packaging line every year. The formats range from the standard sizes N1 and N2 to N3 and cover pack sizes between 20 and 300 tablets in the solids area.

Last year, for example, over 500,000 packs of Sinusitis Hevert SL, more than 160,000 packs of Vitamin D3 Hevert 4000 IU and over 150,000 packs of Calmvalera tablets were packaged at the company headquarters in Nussbaum. Hevert ships its products from Nussbaum to eight countries worldwide.

Quality “Made in Germany”: Commitment to the region and investment in the future of Germany as a production location

Tradition and innovation are not a contradiction at Hevert. On the contrary: The vision of an agile and innovative naturopathy company with regional ties is firmly anchored in the company’s mission statement. With its new solids packaging line, Hevert is doing more than simply consolidating its economic and future-proof development. It is also reaffirming its commitment to being a traditional family business that considers itself to have an obligation to the Nahe region and Germany as a production location.

“We are pursuing a mission marked by vision, and for this we are relying on a modern production method that is highly technical and innovative while maintaining high quality standards and always bears in mind the further development of all our preparations. Expanding the solids packaging line follows our promise that Hevert preparations of “Made in Germany” quality can be prescribed, sold, and used with a clear conscience,” says Managing Director Marcus Hevert, underlining the importance of the increase in capacity.
The project is scheduled to take 18 months to complete. During this time, the building trades need to do their work, the old packaging line has to be removed, and the new packaging line has to be installed and validated. Employees are being prepared for all the changes and innovations through training sessions that are set to run right up to the production launch. The existing line will continue to operate until the first preparations are packaged on the new line.

At the end of an extensive selection process, the contract was awarded to a leading global system provider with an established reputation for customized pharmaceutical packaging solutions, extensive services and holistic approaches.
